The Osugbo Akinle Ijebu and other traditional worshippers in Ogun State, led by their president, Sobowale Fatai Adebanjo, have berated the Ogun State House of Assembly for meddling and intent to tinker with the age-long custom and practice of oba installations and burial rites.
In a communique issued on Thursday, June 18, and signed by the president of Osugbo Akinle Ijebu traditional group and others, the group noted that;
“In an earlier press briefing, we advised the Assembly members and leadership, to desist from letting themselves used as a rubber stamp to legalise illegality, as the outcome of the bill, if passed, will be anarchy, chaos and will lead to the situation of free for all, breaking of law and orderliness in the state.
The group further stated in line with their expectations that, the Chairman of the House committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Balogun Agbolade, assured that the Assembly would call for public hearing from traditional institutions to participate directly on the issues as it affects their religious rights.
