ODOGBOLU COMMUNITY SETS FOR ‘AGEMO’ HERITAGE FESTIVAL

The Odogbolu community located in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State is set for its annual Heritage ‘Agemo’ Festival scheduled to hold from 1- 8 December.


The Vice President of the Community Council, Otunba Kunle Adegbite made this known at the unveiling of Odogbolu Heritage Festival logo, on Thursday, held at the Press Centre, Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The Vice President, who is also Chairman, Odogbolu Heritage Festival, stated that it is part of their agenda to transform the heritage of the ancient town, since they are the custodians of the Agemo festival and reiterated the importance of celebrating the Festival, adding that it is the best way to transform the heritage.

Otunba Adegbite said, “Odogbolu is a town that had produced prominent Nigerians, we believe it is time to celebrate the Odogbolu Heritage. The Community is planning to have a partnership with the Ogun State Government, in order to assist with developmental projects challenging the town.”

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Selimot Otun, in her remarks urged the people not to despise the days of the little beginning, stressing, “we should not despise the days of the little beginning, because the “Ojude Oba Day and Lisabi Day” also started like this, and we still hear of them till today.”

Otun, who was represented by Mrs. FB Ilori, promised that the State Government will definitely be present at the grand-finale of the festival.
The Odogbolu Youth Association Youth Secretary, Comrade Gbenro Fadipe, while speaking stressed various activities that will come up during the festival.

He said, “there will be games for everyone to play. All you need to do is register with ₦500 and win massive gifts like; Plasma TV and more. Also, first, second and third prizes will go home with ₦50,000, ₦30,000 and ₦20,000 respectively.
