Lagos Projects 120,000 COVID-19 Cases By July.
News has it that the number of COVID-19 cases in Lagos may rise to 120,000 by July.
This was revealed by Professor Akin Abayomi, the State’s Commissioner for Health on Friday, the 8th of May, 2020 during a press briefing.
He said the prediction is based on the government prototype following the reported cases documented in one day.
The COVID-19 cases in Lagos surged by 183 as at Thursday, the 8th of May, 2020. This according to record is the highest number of cases documented in a day since the first covid-19 was reported on the 27th of February, 2020. The NCDC confirmed this claim.
Based on statistics, with 183 new cases, Lagos State’s total actual infections now stand at 1,491 and it stays the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria, accounting for 42.3 percent of the country’s total cases.
Professor Abayomi added that Lagos is currently generating sample collection kits and is working to get more test reagents.
He revealed that Hydroxychloroquine trials are likely to start in a week’s time.
