A Fine Gael Senator, Jerry Buttimer has resigned his role as Leas Cathaoirleach of the Seanad as a result of the backlash following the Oireachtas Golf Society dinner in Galway. The Minister for Agriculture in the Republic of Ireland, Dara Calleary has resigned from the cabinet after attending an event in Clifden, Co Galway, with 80 other people on Wednesday night.
