School Leaving Cert Students May Nominate Their Level Of Assessment

Leaving Cert students may decide their level of assessment before their calculated grades are finalised.   The students are expected to nominate whether they are assessed under Higher or Ordinary level before their grade estimations are completed according to the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI).   Where need be, conflicts of interest in a school, like a parent teaching their child, will also have to be declared, and teachers must not be subjected to any influence, pressure or coercion by parents, guardians or students.   Detailed guidance on how…

School Leaving Certificate Examination Cancelled In Ireland

The Leaving Cert exams have been cancelled, Minister for Education Joe McHugh has announced.     The government has decided that all students will be offered the option of accepting ‘calculated grades’ or sitting the Leaving Certificate at a later date.     Joe McHugh while speaking said this is an historic decision as the Leaving Certificate has been cancelled.     “These are exceptional times,” McHugh stated. “But the interests of the students must come first.”   We’ll bring you all the details of the announcement imminently, he added.…
