The COVID-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford has now been halted following discovery of side effects on test subjects. According to Bloomberg, the pause, first reported by Stat on Tuesday, occurred due to a suspected serious adverse reaction in a single person participating in the trial in the UK. The Government of Nigeria on Friday has received samples of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine. The Russia Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin, delivered the samples to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire in Abuja. The minister said the vaccine would be referred to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control as well as the Nigeria Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, amongst other agencies, for review and possible validation.
