Ngozi Iweala emerged winner of the highly competitive race after polling 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat her opponent, South Korea’s trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee. With the development, Iweala becomes the first female and first African to occupy the office. Recall that she had received support from 79 countries, Speaking during a virtual press conference last Friday, she said the 55-man African Union (AU) officially endorsed her over her only opponent, Yoo Myung-hee of South Korea.

-Adewale Adetoyese Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been declared winner of the October 10, 2020 governorship election. INEC Returning Officer, Prof Idowu Olayinka, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) winner with 292,830 votes. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede polled 195,791 while Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 69,127 votes.

Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won as he defeated, the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate, Pastor Osegie Ize-Iyamu, in the State governorship, held on Saturday 20 September 2020 in Edo State.
