JUNIOR AND LEAVING CERTIFICATE ORAL & PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS CANCELLED

The Department of Education in Ireland today 19th of March 2020 announced the cancellation of  oral and practical exams in the upcoming Junior & Leaving  Certificate Examination.

The Department further stated that all students shall be awarded full Mark’s in the designated subjects.

These exams scheduled between 23 March and 3 April, have been cancelled.

This is in line with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s order that schools and colleges across the country be closed in order to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The subjects covered are:

oral tests in Leaving Certificate Irish, French, German, Italian, Russian and Japanese as well as practical tests for Leaving & Junior Cert. in music and home economics.

Dates for completion of coursework and project work in a number of subjects have been extended to 15th May 2020 against the initial deadline between 20th March and 24 April 2020.

However, the Department of Education and Skills still uphold the dates for the Leaving Certificate Examination as over 61,000 students are scheduled.

While in UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced yesterday 18th of March that, the GCSE and A Level exams wold be cancelled based on the pandemic development.
