The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has faced criticism after only listing one woman in the renaming of railway stations.

last Monday, Mr.Buhari had named 23 different train stations after β€œdeserving Nigerians” that has contributed to the progress and development of their communities, areas and the country.

Along those named were former Nigerian leaders, serving ministers and Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a feminist and activist who was also mother of Afrobeat music legend Fela Kuti, was the only woman honored with this privilege .

People have suggested some of the women who deserved to be honored which include Stella Adadevoh, a medical doctor who died trying to prevent the spread of Ebola in Nigeria, and Dora Akunyili, who spearheaded the crusade against fake drugs before her death in 2014.

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has asked the President to name a station in Kaduna after the female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile, who died two weeks ago in an accident.

Women all around are not appreciated for what they do and need to be recognized for how they help the world.
