Fire Guts INEC Office In Abuja; Days After The Fire Outbreak At The Accountant General’s And Corporate Affairs

Another fire outbreak occurred in Abuja today at a section of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) complex.

This incidence is happening after the Corporate Affairs Commission headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, was razed to flames couple of days ago. It is barely 2 weeks that the Accountant General’s office was also on fire.

Today, the Media Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission also in Abuja is gutted by fire. The incident is said to have impacted the office of INEC’s Director of Voter Registry, Emmanuel Akem.

β€œThe fire started at about 10:30am and was quickly put out by a combined team of firefighters from the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service; assisted by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency” according toΒ Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi,Β INEC’s Director of publicity and voter education.

”Some equipment and correspondence were affected. But no sensitive material was affected” he added.

There have been serial cases of fire outbreaks at government offices in recent times.

On Wednesday, a part of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) headquarters in Abuja was gutted by fire.

Barely over 2 weeks, the office of the Accountant General of the federation was also razed by fire.
