3 out of 386 cases of Coronavirus are dead.
With 126 new cases of Covid-19 discovered today in the Republic of Ireland and a total of 683 recorded cases since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus.
According to health officials, 12 infected persons are in the Intensive Care Unit; this amounts to 8.6% of hospitalised cases while 29% of those hospitalised patients are 65 years and above.
40% occurrence in Ireland is believed to have occurred through community transmission.
Dublin has the highest percentage of infected persons amounting to 51% while 15% are in Cork.
According to the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, the median age of those diagnosed is 43.
Holohan while encouraging the citizens stated that,
“Now is not the time for complacency. Every citizen who is practicing social distancing, who is taking precautions to limit the spread of this virus, is doing their country a service”
Northern Ireland recorded a total of 86 cases, 1 death and 9 new cases today.
