COVID-19 NIGERIA: PRESIDENTIAL TASK FORCE ENFORCES MAJOR CLAMPDOWN IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR

As an effort to curb the global pandemic Covid-19, the National Youth Service Corp of Nigeria has halted its orientation activities nationwide.

The Batch A Orientation Camps for graduates which commenced its activities on the 10th of March 2020 and due to end 21 days after has now been cut short.

The decision was influenced by the resolution of the Presidential Task Force which frowned at large public gatherings nationwide, in order to curtail the dreadful virus.

The Task Force also banned foreign trips for Public Officials. However, no travel restriction was placed on countriesΒ  with high cases of coronavirus coming into Nigeria.

Nevertheless, travellers from such countries, are expected to be self-quarantine for 14 days, during which they would be monitored once they are in the shores of Nigeria.

The 11-member Task Force, headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, announced its resolutions on Tuesday 17th of March after a meeting in Abuja.

The virus has caused significant deaths in Asia, Europe and United States while we have a considerable low death toll in Africa.

We now have 8 reported cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 0 mortality rate.
