Covid 19- Federal Government gets 50m Euro from EU.
The European Union through its Ambassador Keil Karlsen, The Head of Delegation to Nigeria, at a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari announced the charitable grant by the EU to assist the Nigerian government in her fight against the feared covid-19 pandemic.
This meeting took place at the Aso Villa on Monday, the 13th of April 2020.
In an official statement released by the spokesman to the President of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Adesina says the 50 Million pounds (N21B) grant was given by the European as part of her contribution to help the country’s resolve to ensure the eradication of covid-19 in Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian government had come under difference critique via various social media platforms amidst several donors of both individual and corporate bodies who had made donations towards the course of fighting the dreaded corona virus.
The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari made two addresses to Nigerians within the period of three weeks.
The two addresses in their differing intent has been criticised, especially by the opposition parties and other stakeholders to have come short of expectations.
In the latest broadcast by Mr President on Monday April 13, the entire world looked out to have him clear the air on the palliative moves embarked upon by his administration and perhaps announce a workable and endurable system of providing relief packages to further ease the effects of the stay-at-home order on the generality of Nigeria, most especially in the prevalent districts.
The citizens however awaits response to their yearnings as the rate at which people are starving is on the high side.
In another development, the Minister of Finance, today posted on her Instagram page; picture of herself, President Muhammadu Buhari and other government officials after a meeting with an EU delegation at the state house yesterday.
We however, look forward to proper briefing on the outcome of the meeting and possible benefits the meeting has on the country in connection with the pandemic.
