COVID-19: Russia Records More Than 10,000 Daily Cases For Sixth Consecutive Day.

 

On Friday, the 8th of May, 2020, Russia registered more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases for the sixth day in a row, after ensuing as a new hotspot of the pandemic.

 

A government tally revealed 10,669 new cases over the last 24 hours, fewer than Thursdayโ€™s record of 11,231 bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 187,859.

 

Russia subsequently recorded 98 new deaths from the virus, for a total of 1,723.

 

The WHO gave Russia a warning and alerted the probability of going through a delayed epidemic. The WHO warned the officers considering softening the current lockdown.

 

Russia now categorizes fourth in Europe in terms of the cumulative number of cases, according to an AFP tally, behind countries where the widespread hit extensively earlier: Britain, Italy and Spain.

 

 

Michael Ryan, the WHO emergencies director making these revelations in a virtual briefing said;

โ€œRussia is probably experiencing a delayed epidemicโ€ and must โ€œlearn some of the lessonsโ€ which came at great cost in other parts of the world.

 

On Thursday , the 7th of May, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin declared openly an extension of a lockdown in the capital, where most cases are focused, to May 31.
