Sanwo-Olu Moves To End Life Pension For Tinubu, Others

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has proposed to end the payment of life pension and other entitlements to former governor Governors and their Deputies.

TellAfrica gathered that Sanwo-Olu made the proposition on Tuesday, during the presentation of the 2021 budget estimate of N1,155,022,413,005.82, tagged, ‘budget of rekindled hope.’

He said, “Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the House, in light of keeping the costs of governance low and to signal selflessness in public service, we will be sending a draft executive bill to the House imminently for the repeal of the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former Governors and their Deputies.”

The National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who is a former governor of the State is among those currently benefiting from the life pension payment regime of the State.
